Popantel is a widely used worm control oral treatment. Highly effective in treating various intestinal worms in canines, Popantel further prevents re-infestation. It kills and controls hookworms, roundworms, whipworms and tapeworms including Hydatid tapeworms. One tablet per 10 kg bodyweight of dog is standard and treats gastrointestinal worms in breeds of dogs.
How does it work?
This popular allwormer is developed with three active ingredients Praziquantel, Oxantel and Pyrantel Embonate. All the components work together to treat various gastrointestinal worms in dogs. The active components of Popantel paralysis the nervous system of parasites, and remove them from dog body naturally. This oral tab treats and further prevents worm infection in dogs. The regular treatment prevents re-infestation and keeps pets healthy.
Dosage
For Small and Medium Dogs – 10 kg
1.5 to 2.5 kg – ¼ tab
2.5 to 5 kg – ½ tab
5 to 10 kg – 1 tab
Over 10 kg – 1 tab per 10 kg and round off doses to nearest half tab
For Large Dogs – 40 kg
20 – 35 kg – 1 tab
35 – 52 kg – 1.5 tabs
25 – 70 kg – 2 tabs
70 – 87 kg – 2.5 tabs
Over 87 kg – 3 tabs
For roundworms and hookworms
For treating these worms, provide Popantel to puppies at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks, and continue the treatment once every 3 months.
For Hydatid tapeworms
To treat Hydatid tapeworms in dogs, treat with Popantel every 6 weeks. During this treatment, do not feed them with offal.
For Whipworms
Treat puppies every 6 to 8 weeks after 3 months of age.
For pregnant and lactating bitches
Administer Popantel at mating, before whelping and then continue at an interval of 3 months.
For other worms
Treat dogs with Popantel at an interval of 3 months regularly, which helps in protecting dogs from multiple intestinal infestations.
